‘The Popinjay Cavalier’ is the Title of Quentin Tarantino’s Stage Play: 1830s-Set Swashbuckling Comedy

March 11, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

More details have emerged about Quentin Tarantino’s next project—a play scheduled to debut in London’s West End in early 2027. Titled “The Popinjay Cavalier,” the new stage comedy is written and directed by Tarantino, with Sony Pictures Entertainment producing.

“The Popinjay Cavalier” is being described as a “swashbuckling comedy” set in 1830s Europe—a British-style farce filled with slapstick chaos, awkward mishaps, and characters constantly being mistaken for someone else.

Tarantino is reportedly negotiating with several major actors to star in the production, and more details should be announced soon. One thing seems certain: he’s in absolutely no rush to begin work on his tenth and final film. That project may have to wait until at least 2028, possibly aligning with the 10-year anniversary of his last film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
