Wes Anderson to Shoot New Film in Late 2026/Early 2027

February 20, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

I’m hearing some first details about movement finally happening on Wes Anderson’s next film, which is aiming for a late 2026/early 2027 shoot in Europe.

Anderson co-wrote the script with Roman Coppola, and Richard Ayoade, the latter of whom acted in last year’s “The Phoenician Scheme.” Searchlight Pictures is circling the project. As it stands, no title, cast, or plot details have been revealed to me.

It was only a matter of time before Ayoade would become an Anderson regular. Ayoade’s directorial style shares similarities with Anderson’s, particularly in the use of symmetrical framing, deadpan humor, and quirky, stylized worlds.

As for Anderson’s last film, “The Phoenician Scheme,” the reviews were good, not great, with some confiding that they’ve had it with Anderson’s visual and narrative style. Others are sticking with it, and will continue to defend the filmmaker to the very end. I personally found “Asteroid City,” and to a certain extent, “The French Dispatch,” to be much deeper and more satisfying films.
