Lenny Abrahamson, the acclaimed filmmaker of “Room,” “Frank,” and “Normal People,” is set to direct an untitled family period drama exploring the Jewish community of Dublin, Ireland, in the 1970s.
Tom Burke (“Furiosa”) and Eve Hewson (“Disclosure Day”) are set to star alongside newcomer Sean Meagher, who will play their young son in the main role.

Set within Dublin’s Jewish community in the late 1970s, the film is a lyrical and emotionally resonant portrait of Davey (Meagher), a 12-year-old boy on the edge of change, navigating the anxieties of adolescence alongside the evolving dynamics of his parents’ marriage.
The film comes from Film4, High Frequency, Screen Ireland, and RTÉ, and has been boarded by A24 which will handle U.S. distribution — they previously teamed with Abrahamson on the Oscar-winning “Room.” Filming is set to kick off in Dublin on March 2.
After this weekend, when “Artificial” and “Behemoth!” screen at NYFF, there won’t be many Oscar contenders left unseen. In fact, by my count, there are just two: ‘Cliff Booth,’ and “Dune: Part Three.”
