Edward Berger is currently shooting A24-produced “The Riders,” starring Brad Pitt in the lead role. Screenwriter David Kajganich is adapting the story from Tim Winton’s acclaimed novel.
I can confirm that Berger has brought on cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister to serve as DP on the film—yes, the same Hoffmeister who shot “TÁR” and was a key collaborator on the late Terrence Davies’ “The Deep Blue Sea” and “A Quiet Passion.”
“The Riders,” which also stars Julianne Nicholson and Danny Huston, follows a man who embarks on a massive European odyssey—traveling from Ireland to Greece, Brussels, Amsterdam, and back again—as he searches for his wife and slowly falls apart.
There’s no release date set just yet for the film, but with A24’s 2026 slate notably light on traditional awards bait, this could be one they push aggressively—possibly positioning it for a major fall release and awards-season run.
