What am I seeing here?
Here's our first look at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, 54, on the New York City set of Benny Safdie's "Lizard Music," a live-action/CGI hybrid now set for a Christmas 2027 release.
I gotta say, Johnson is fairly unrecognizable as "The Chicken Man," a character created by Daniel Pinkwater in his 1976 novel. As you can imagine, the role required a major physical transformation. Johnson revealed that he kept losing weight to play the elderly character, and when describing the look they were going for, he said, "Think Clint Eastwood at 75."
Johnson is barely recognizable in the photos below, with gray hair, beard, old-age makeup and a floppy hat. The artist behind Johnson’s transformation is Kazu Hiro, who just turned Tom Cruise into a geriatric for “Digger.”
“Lizard Music” follows a lonely boy who stumbles upon a mysterious late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music. His search for answers leads him to Chicken Man who tells him of a little known invasion from outer space
I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure what to expect from "Lizard Music." But don't tell me you're not at least a little curious about a Safdie-directed family fantasy with a prosthetic-heavy, slimmed-down, 70-year-old Rock.
Two weeks ago, I reported that James Wan's remake of the Korean film "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil" for Paramount was scheduled to start production in April 2027. We now have a lead.
