Haley Lu Richardson Joins ‘Miami Vice ‘85' as the Cast Keeps Growing

October 13, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Yet another casting addition to Joseph Kosinski's "Miami Vice '85." Is this just going to be a daily thing now? How many more are to come?

Haley Lu Richardson, whom I love, has joined the cast. There's no word yet on the role she'll play. As far as I'm concerned, any film with Richardson in it stands to gain. She broke out with scene-stealing turns in "The Edge of Seventeen" (2016) and "Split" (2016), then earned acclaim for her lead performance in Kogonada's "Columbus" (2017), which she followed with his "After Yang" (2021). She reached her biggest audience yet as Portia in the second season of HBO's "The White Lotus" (2022).

Are you ready? The cast of "Miami Vice '85" now includes Austin Butler, Michael B. Jordan, John Leguizamo, Alden Ehrenreich, Walton Goggins, André Holland, Andrew Schulz, Dominic Sessa, Danny Ramirez, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Edi Gathegi, and Haley Lu Richardson.

That's an embarrassment of riches. Kosinski is shooting for IMAX from a script by Dan Gilroy and Eric Warren Singer. Universal has the film dated for May 19, 2028, so there's plenty of time for the cast list to keep growing. At this rate, I'll see you back here tomorrow.
