Box-Office: ‘Mercy’ ($11M) Dethrones ‘Fire and Ash’ ($7M); ‘Bone Temple’ ($3.8M) Plummets 71% [Updated]

January 24, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

With an intense weather event hitting North America right now, it’s looking like this weekend at the box office will be affected. The Chris Pratt–led “Mercy” is headed for a $11M gross, following a $4.9M Friday. The film has a $60M budget, terrible reviews, and a mediocre “B-” CinemaScore.

Still, that’ll be enough to knock “Avatar: Fire and Ash” off the top spot. James Cameron’s epic is set to fall 51% this weekend, taking second place with $7M and bringing its domestic total to $378.4M. Will it hit $400M domestic?

Yesterday, I mentioned how ‘Bone Temple’ was dropping hard, following a limp $13M opening last weekend—and now we have some numbers to back that up. Nia DaCosta’s sequel only made $1.2M on Friday and is looking at a $3.6M weekend. That’s a 70% drop, and only good enough for fifth place.

Set to slot ahead of “Bone Temple” this weekend, alongside “Mercy” and ‘Fire and Ash,’ are “Zootopia 2” with $5.9M and “The Housemaid” with $4.6M. Meanwhile, “Marty Supreme” pulled in $3.4M in its sixth weekend, bringing its tally up to $86M domestic, and $116M worldwide.
