Sure, why not? Universal and Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis seem to believe there will be an audience for this one.
Sources are telling Deadline that Jason Moore (“Pitch Perfect”) will direct an adaptation of the classic TV series “Murder, She Wrote,” which will star Curtis in the role made famous by Angela Lansbury.
Lansbury starred from 1984 to 1996 in what became one of television’s most enduring and popular series. She played Jessica Fletcher, a retired schoolteacher who reinvented herself as a successful mystery novelist, discovering along the way an extraordinary talent for solving actual murders.
Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo (“Dumb Money”) wrote the screenplay based on the CBS series. Amy Pascal will produce, along with Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The film is set up at Universal — who wants to wager it goes straight to Peacock?
