Back in 2024, we learned that Brad Bird would not be directing “Incredibles 3.” The simple reason: Bird was too busy shooting his decade-in-the-making project, “Ray Gunn.”
Pixar handed directorial duties over to Peter Sohn, known for his work on “Elemental” and “The Good Dinosaur.” This marked a shift in creative leadership for the beloved superhero franchise, which had been spearheaded by Bird for over two decades.
Now, when is it coming out? Holly Hunter, who plays Elastigirl, tells ScreenRant that she’s supposed to start voice recording in March — and given that there’s an empty summer 2028 slot on the Pixar schedule, it looks likely that it’ll be reserved for “Incredibles 3.”
At least Bird, who wrote and directed the first two Incredibles movies, has written the script for “Incredibles 3” and is co-producing the third chapter. The two previous films in the series were both critical and commercial hits, collectively earning around $1.8 billion worldwide.
