“Babygirl” director Halina Reijn has written her next film, and A24 is once again attached for what sounds like another sexually charged drama.
According to THR, singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams will make her acting debut in Reijn’s “Please,” which is expected to shoot this year. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources confirm it is a “period female drama” and will be a “continuation of the edgy romance genre” that Reijn tackled with “Babygirl.”
Reijn has so far directed three features: “Instinct,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” and “Babygirl” — the latter had a splashy debut at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where Kidman won the Best Actress prize.
“Please” will mark Reijn’s third consecutive film with A24, and Deadline is now reporting that her 2019 debut, “Instinct” — which previously did not receive U.S. distribution — has been acquired by A24 for release. The film follows a prison therapist who becomes obsessed with her patient, a violent serial rapist.
