French filmmaker Quentin Dupieux has directed six films in the last four years. He’s prolific, and, while some find his brand of farcical surrealist cinema not to their tastes, Dupieux does have a large cult following.
Some wonderful news, Dupieux’s next film, “Full Phil,” will be his starriest one yet. He’s graduated to directing Hollywood actors. No, really. The cast he’s assembled includes Kristen Stewart, Woody Harrelson, Emma Mackey, and Tim Heidecker.
Some more good news: “Full Phil” has already begun production! This new Dupieux appears to be an exclusively English affair. No plot details revealed. Cannes 2026? How can Thierry Fremaux say no to K-Stew?
There’s always something to like about Dupiwux’s films. His most famous one, at least in the U.S, is “Rubber” which was quite literally about a killer car tire. I find “Yannick” to be his best film — although I’ve only seen around half of the 16 features he’s directed so far.
