Shawn Levy’s upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter” has landed a major name behind the camera. The whole project’s street cred has been slightly elevated in the process.
Sources tell TheInSneider that Claudio Miranda, the Oscar-winning cinematographer of “Life of Pi,” has signed on as director of photography. This is positive news for a project that has drawn my skepticism since its inception.
Miranda, who also earned an Oscar nomination for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” has been one of Hollywood’s go-to DPs for large-scale, visually ambitious projects. His career has definitely been on the up.
His recent credits include “Top Gun: Maverick” and “F1,” both for director Joseph Kosinski, which suggests Levy is chasing a similar level of slick, high-octane visual spectacle for ‘Starfighter,’ which is set to open in theaters on May 28, 2027.
