Is Quentin Tarantino Shooting His Next Film Later This Year?

August 11, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

I have to tackle this because it’s spreading to various outlets and has gone viral.

A listing on Production List claims that Quentin Tarantino’s going to be shooting his next, and final, film in December with a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman and John Travolta. Robert Richardson is listed as DP.

The news has gotten lots of clicks on social media. Some outlets even pounced on the news, which inevitably led me to ask around for more details on the project. Turns out, this isn’t correct information.

Sources are telling me Tarantino is nowhere near finished the screenplay for his tenth film, and that in fact, he might not have even started writing it. There are currently no plans to shoot anything this year.

This comes as David Fincher is currently shooting with Pitt what was supposed to be Tarantino’s next film, “The Adventures of Cliff Booth,” a screenplay which QT sold to Netflix for a cool $20M, opting out of the entire thing as it wasn’t worthy enough to be his tenth and final film.

Pitt was instrumental in bringing this collaboration together. After reading Tarantino’s script and admiring certain elements, he suggested handing the directing reins to someone else — which opened the door for Fincher.

While Tarantino typically directs his own screenplays, he has, on occasion, written for others, as with “True Romance” and “From Dusk Till Dawn.” It certainly didn’t hurt that Tarantino is said to consider Fincher’s most recent film, “The Killer,” a masterpiece.

And so, the wait continues for Tarantino’s next film, which still appears to be a long way off. For now, he’s most likely focused on writing a stage play, a format he’s been openly intrigued by in recent years, while also juggling the occasional book project and curated screenings at the New Beverly. As for when he’ll return behind the camera, that remains anyone’s guess.
