In a surprising development, HBO has confirmed that legendary composer Hans Zimmer will score Sam Levinson’s upcoming third season of “Euphoria.”
Known for his thunderous, emotionally rich work on “Dune,” “Interstellar,” and “The Dark Knight,” Zimmer’s involvement signals a shift in the show’s soundscape. With that said, Labrinth, whose genre-blending sound became synonymous with Euphoria’s first two seasons, will still take part, somehow, in composing some of the music.
“It’s a true honor to be working alongside Hans,” Levinson said. “I wrote this season to the score of ‘Interstellar’ and ‘True Romance.’ So he’s been ingrained in the creative DNA since the beginning. I’m really proud of the work Labrinth and I have done in previous seasons and am excited for Hans to push us to new heights.”
Zimmer’s participation suggests that Season 3 will adopt a more operatic tone, both thematically and sonically. While Labrinth’s minimalist, gospel-inflected synth work gave “Euphoria” its soundscape, Zimmer’s arrival hints at something … heavier.
Production on the long-delayed third season of “Euphoria” began earlier this year. Most of the core cast is returning—Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo, and Dominic Fike—alongside a bizarre mix of new additions that includes Sharon Stone, and Marshawn Lynch.
Based on what’s been gathered, Season 3 will consist of eight noir-tinged episodes, with each instalment reportedly taking about a month to shoot. Production is expected to wrap sometime in early fall.
“Euphoria” Season 3 is currently eyeing a 2026 release on HBO.
