Margot Robbie to Star in Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman’

July 21, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Tim Burton may have recently hinted at an animated film being his next project — the script is currently being written — but the gears are turning over at Warner Bros. on “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman,” and they’ve just added a major actress.

Here’s The InSneider, with his invaluable newsletter, dishing out another awesome scoop. Margot Robbie is now on board to both star in and produce Burton’s “Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.”

First reported back in February 2024, the project was pitched as a Burton-led reimagining of the 1958 B-movie cult classic, with “Gone Girl” scribe Gillian Flynn originally tapped to handle the screenplay. At the time, the film was still early in development.

Then… radio silence. Or so it seemed.

However, behind the scenes, Warner Bros. was still committed, and now, according to The InSneider’s sources close to the project, Robbie and her LuckyChap banner have officially joined the producing team. She’s also expected to star as the titular giantess — originally played by Allison Hayes in the 1958 film — a wealthy heiress who, after a close encounter with an alien spacecraft, literally grows into a force of nature.

Flynn’s original draft reportedly was the foundation, but she won’t be returning for the next pass. She’s booked up with other commitments, and the studio is now actively seeking a new writer to refine her work.

For Warner Bros., the idea of reuniting with Robbie — especially after “Barbie” — is a no-brainer. If the script clicks, this could be one of Burton’s most interesting studio projecta in years, and a wild tonal shift from his recent IP (”Dumbo,” ”Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,”) and Netflix work (”Wednesday”)

So yes, “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” is still happening, and now it’s looking a lot more real.
