Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock Reunite For Mysterious New Film

May 2, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are getting back in the saddle—or maybe behind the wheel—for a brand new film. And while it’s not officially titled “Speed 3,” that hasn’t stopped the internet from speculating.

The yet-unnamed “romantic thriller” is currently idling in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with Noah Oppenheim (”Jackie”). Details about the plot are being held tighter than a detonator in a moving vehicle.

Here’s what we do know: the project is not just a long-awaited reunion between the two stars—it’s also bringing producer Mark Gordon back into the mix. He, of course, was the force behind 1994’s “Speed,” the adrenaline-fueled “Die Hard on a bus” classic that launched this duo’s on-screen chemistry.

Gordon and Oppenheim originally brought the idea to Reeves and Bullock, who, instead of fleeing the scene, decided to lean in and help shape the film. Now, odds are below 50/50 that this is “Speed 3,” but an air of suspicion will loom over this project until we get a title and synopsis.

A quick pit stop to the past: “Speed” hauled in over $350M during the summer of ’94. And while “Speed 2: Cruise Control” exists (sort of), Reeves’ absence was noticeable.. So this mysterious new reunion? Yeah, who knows? We certainly don’t want another ‘Lake House,’ which is that other Reeves/Bullock film, released in 2006.

Last year, during an interview on the “50 MPH” podcast, Reeves and Bullock expressed interest in making “Speed 3”: “I mean, you know — we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park.”

A few months later, Bullock and Reeves made it clear again that they’d be down for the third instalment, and went as far as daring Hollywood to greenlight it because they believed the industry was “not brave enough” to do so. Total rubbish. Any studio would absolutely jump at the chance to make the sequel.
