IMDb Issues Ratings Disclaimer on ‘Snow White’

April 5, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

There’s “review bombing,” and then there’s Snow White-level review bombing. They are two different beasts.

People are acting totally normal online in reaction to Disney’s live-action “Snow White.” The review aggregate sites have been in over their heads when it comes to this one.

As it stands, Disney’s 2025 reimagining of “Snow White” holds a 1.6/10·on IMDb based on 312,000 reviews. More suspect, 91% of the votes are one-star ratings. This is a perfect case of review-bombing.

As it stands, “Snow White” is one of the lowest-rated movies on IMDB, alongside such perennials as “Birdemic: Shock and Terror” and “Baby Geniuses 2.” It’s since been removed.

IMDb has additionally issued a rare warning for Snow White which indicates “unusual voting activity.”

Snow White already has 312k total ratings after only three weeks in release. An unusual amount for a recent film, let alone one that’s not been a major draw at the box office. Just as an example, “Snow White” has 100k more votes than last year’s top-grossing film (“Inside Out 2”).

Was “Snow White” review bombed by trolls? You bet. Were there also actual honest people who gave it a low rating? Of course. It can be both of those things at the same time. However, it’ll be near impossible for IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes to come up with a fair rating on this movie.
