With the news that David Fincher is directing a “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” sequel, starring Brad Pitt, I’ll just be the bearer of bad news and confirm that Quentin Tarantino is sadly not shooting a new film this year.
It sounds like whatever the L.A. crew were buzzing about was, in fact, Fincher’s QT-penned film. Understandable mix-up. Tarantino is currently writing a stage play instead, which he might, or might not, turn into a film. As the man himself recently stated, he’s in “no hurry” to go back into production on a new project.
Tarantino opted out of the ‘Once Upon A Time’ sequel as his 10th and final film, and instead found a loophole to have Fincher direct it instead. It’s really that simple. This whole notion that he should just direct 10 films in his career is a real crux and has turned into a rather restrictive endeavor for the filmmaker.
Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Tyrone Giordano, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Schneider, and Brian White will all be back.
