Amazon Memo Promises James Bond Will Remain Male & British

March 9, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

As the future of James Bond continues to be discussed over at Amazon/MGM, what seems to be of the utmost importance is to speed up the creative process towards a new instalment.

Although we won’t be hearing anything official about the next outing for the next few months, according to a new report, there is at least one certainty: Bond will remain James, not Jane.

According to an internal Amazon memo, James Bond won’t be turned female, and will also remain British. Anti-wokesters worldwide are now breathing a huge sigh of relief.

There have been so many erroneous rumours about the future of Bond. Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth – and he has to be male.

According to the report, former Bond owner Barbara Broccoli is said to have insisted on the 007 agent remaining male and British before agreeing to sell the franchise for a whopping $1 billion to Amazon.

As for Jeff Bezos’ involvement, it turns out the internal memo might have been his idea since he’s a huge 007 fan and wanted to make sure that nobody messes with some of more “sacrosanct” aspects of the character:

Jeff is a massive Bond fan and while he's excited to see how Amazon can take the franchise forward there are certain things which are sacrosanct. That's why the memo went out this week, to reassure everyone.

The memo does not mention whether Bond will still be Caucasian, and that seems to be a point of contention for certain parts of the fanbase; although, I wouldn’t mind seeing Idris Elba as the next 007 — he was born to play the suave spy.

Regardless, the news that Bond will remain male will be well received very well by the legions of fans who have been actively against the idea, and that includes the last two actors to have played the agent — Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan — both of which had previously stated that he should remain a man.
