Trailer for ‘Freakier Friday’

March 14, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Disney has released the trailer for “Freakier Friday.” The film is set for theatrical release on August 8, 2025. That’s the same day as Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.”

“Freakier Friday” is the sequel to 2003’s “Freaky Friday.” Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess) and Lindsay Lohan (Anna) return in their respective mother/daughter roles for the sequel. Additionally, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Mark Harmon, and Chad Michael Murray are part of the ensemble.

The 2003 original was a very likeable, and entertaining, body-swapping comedy. Nothing more, nothing less. A harmlessly well-made trifle that used familiar tropes in humorous ways. In the sequel, which picks up 20 years after the last one, Anna’s daughter (Butters) gets in on the fun.

As for Lohan, she’s now married to Dubai financier Bader, and after barely starring in any movies these last 10 years, recently made a comeback, appearing in a handful of lame (but very successful) Netflix romcoms. Lohan’s comeback started with the 2022 Netflix hit “Falling For Christmas” — it was her first prominent acting gig since the 2013 Paul Schrader-directed “The Canyons.”
