Matthew Lillard on Quentin Tarantino’s Diss: “That Hurts Your Feelings”

December 7, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

While everyone concentrated on Paul Dano, we forgot that Quentin Tarantino had actually cited three actors in his rant on the Bret Easton Ellis podcast:

I don’t care for [Dano], I don’t care for Owen Wilson, and I don’t care for Matthew Lillard.

While Dano and Wilson have yet to respond, Matthew Lillard, while promoting “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” over the weekend, has chimed in, and it turns out Tarantino’s comments have given him the dreads.

“Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor. Eh, whatever. Who gives a s***,” he told fans while speaking at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio.

“Listen, the point is that hurts your feelings. It f***in’ sucks,” added Lillard. “And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. You wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood.”

Lillard explained, “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms, right? And so, you know, it’s humbling, and it hurts.”

Actually, Tarantino has called out a big star — and he did it recently. Remember that whole brouhaha Tarantino had with George Clooney? Claiming the actor was not a “true movie star,” which peeved Clooney enough to respond that he was “a little irritated.”

Clooney was blunt: “So now I’m like, all right, dude, f— off. I don’t mind giving him s***. He gave me s***.”

As for Lillard, he doesn’t necessarily have the creds to have social media backing him like they did with Dano as he’s mostly known for “Scream” (1996), “Scooby-Doo” (2002), and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” (2023).
