‘Sinners' Tops Critics Choice Awards With 17 Nominations

This week’s barrage of awards announcements has been a bit much: Indie Spirits, Gothams, NYFCC, NBR, AFI, and now the Critics Choice Awards nominations.

The nominations are in for the CCAs. “Sinners” scored 17 noms, “One Battle After Another” 14. “Frankenstein” and “Hamnet” 11. Totally snubbed was “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” which was screened at the very last minute, and might have been affected by that.

Other particular snubs include Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”), Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”), Jeremy Allen White (“Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere”), George Clooney (“Jay Kelly”),

A few notes:

Big day for “Train Dreams,” which keeps building momentum.
Chase Infiniti getting in for Best Actress.
“The Testament of Ann Lee” is DOA.
“Wicked: For Good” is still alive.
A big surprise: “The Perfect Neighbor” nominated for Editing.
Another surprise: Wunmi Mosaku (“Sinners”) in Supporting Actress
Will Joel Edgerton get a Best Actor Oscar nomination?
How did “Sentimental Value” miss Foreign Language Film?
Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”) still in Oscar contention.

Chelsea Handler will return for a fourth consecutive year to host the telecast, which will air live from Santa Monica on E! and USA Network on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 7:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
