Vin Diesel to Write and Star in ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em’ Movie for Mattel

December 4, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

This has disaster written all over it.

Vin Diesel is set to star and write (!!!) the “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots” movie for Mattel and Universal. The upcoming live-action film will bring the tabletop boxing game and its characters—Red Rocker and Blue Bomber—to life on the big screen (via Deadline).

First thing I thought after reading that headline: He can write? Diesel isn’t known as a scribe, although he once worked on an original screenplay, reportedly titled “Doormen,” based on his experiences as a bouncer, which never materialized.

Robbie Brenner, President of Mattel Studios and Chief Content Officer: “Vin is a powerhouse storyteller with an unmatched understanding of action, heart, and world-building. His creative vision for Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is bold, human, and deeply cinematic—exactly the kind of storytelling we love at Mattel Studios.”
