Readers’ Poll: The Best Films of 2025 — Submit Your List!

January 3, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Well, it’s certainly been an interesting year at the movies. I can’t say it’s been the best one of the decade—that honor goes to 2023—but given all the doom and gloom out there, the movie quality could have been a lot worse than what we ended up getting.

This will be an open thread where our readers can post their top 10 films of 2025 in the comments section below. You can continue editing your personal post/list until January 10, 2025. After that, the lists will be finalized and used to tabulate our third annual Readers’ Poll of the best films of the year.

Last year, close to 500 lists were submitted by our readers, with Sean Baker’s “Anora” topping the poll. The year prior, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” won the contest. Given that our readership has almost doubled in 2025, I’m expecting an even higher number of submissions.

Results will be posted on January 13, 2025. Just in case you’re wondering, my own list will finally—after much scrutinizing—be published this coming Wednesday.
