Barack Obama’s Top 10 Movies of 2025: Curated or Focus-Grouped?

December 18, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Hey, WoR readers, wake up—it’s time for Barack Obama’s annual list of the best (most politically correct) movies of the year… as selected by his PR team?

The interns who were tasked with assembling Barack Obama’s annual list of 2025’s best films have come up with yet another batch of focus-grouped, algorithm-friendly selections.

It’s been over 10 years since he’s been doing this, and I’d like to know—does anyone actually believe he makes these lists himself? The cat almost came out of the bag recently when Hasan Minhaj interviewed Obama and asked him to go into detail about one of the books on his list. Obama pretended the question was never asked and abruptly switched to another topic.

The man is a politician. Every single thing he says or does must be curated. Why would this list be an exception? Obama’s lists are somewhat bothersome—they seem less genuine and more the product of market testing.

Let’s briefly dissect this list, shall we? “Jay Kelly” is on there because George Clooney and Obama are besties. “Orwell: 2+2=5” is obviously his potshot at Trump. He’d probably get crucified if “Sinners” weren’t on his list. “Good Fortune” is on there because Aziz Ansari performed comedy at White House events throughout Obama’s presidency. The other titles might just be there to please Film Twitter.

Anyway, you get the point. I’m sure he’s seen some of these films—maybe all of them, who knows—but what I’m more interested in is Donald Trump’s list. Now that would be a real hoot to see.
