‘How to Make A Killing' Trailer: Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley Star in A24 Thriller

November 25, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Originally titled “Huntington,” A24’s “How to Make A Killing” starring Glen Powell, now has an online trailer. It’s about a man fighting for his inheritance via murder.

Written/directed by John Patton Ford (“Emily the Criminal”), the trailer has been playing for two weeks now, in select theaters, during showings of “The Running Man.” The film looks deviously watchable. Wouldn’t you want to kill for Margaret Qualley?

The release date is February 20, 2026. Not necessarily the most confident scheduling move on the part of A24 but I’m definitely willing to give this one a shot. I gather that with that date, we can — maybe? — expect a world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film, which was shot in July 2024, co-stars Margaret Qualley, Ed Harris, and Topher Grace, and is inspired by Robert Hamer’s 1949 classic “Kind Hearts and Coronets,” starring Alec Guinness. However, “Huntington” is said to “skew darker than the original caper classic and leans into witty and zingy banter,” according to Deadline. It’s a “raucous revenge thriller” about the heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves.

One of the few success stories of 2022 indie cinema was the streaming performance of Ford’s Sundance-premiered crime drama “Emily the Criminal,” starring Aubrey Plaza. It peaked at the top of Netflix’s trending Top 10 in early December of that year and remained high up there for weeks. The film was made on a scant budget of just $2M.

Powell is coming off the lukewarm reception of “The Running Man,” which plummeted 70% this weekend at the box office. After “How to Make A Killing,” Powell is expected to appear in J.J. Abrams’ “Ghostwriter,” which might also be aiming for a 2026 release.
