There he is again. Francis Ford Coppola praising another Oscar contender on his Instagram feed. A few days ago, he raved about Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein.” Isn’t he supposed to be shooting ‘Glimpses of the Moon’ in Italy?
Coppola has only kind words to say about “Sinners” and filmmaker Ryan Coogler, citing the filmmaker as the future of cinema. The film is “something enormous,” Coppola says, adding that Coogler’s talents defy “description or definition.”
Will Coppola be buying a ticket for Coogler’s next film, Black Panther 3? After all, this is the same guy who once agreed with fellow peer Martin Scorsese’s criticism of Marvel, even insisting that Scorsese was actually “too kind” by merely calling it “not cinema.” According to Coppola, Marvel movies are “despicable.”
