A24 Retitles Glen Powell’s ‘Huntington,’ Drops Trailer in Theaters With Zero Notice — Sets February 2026 Release

November 18, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

An update about A24’s “Huntington,” starring Glen Powell and written/directed by John Patton Ford (“Emily the Criminal”). I received a few emails from readers claiming that the trailer is currently playing in select theaters during showings of “The Running Man.” I can confirm that this is correct.

The film has been retitled “How to Make A Killing,” and the release date stamped on the trailer is February 27, 2026. Given that it’s already attached to select theatrical screenings, I’d imagine A24 will drop the trailer online very soon.

Talk about a lack of confidence on the part of A24. I had heard the film was not testing well, but this is quite a way to bury a film you have zero confidence in. I gather that with that date, we can — maybe? — expect a world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film, which was shot in July 2024, co-stars Margaret Qualley, Ed Harris, and Topher Grace, and is inspired by Robert Hamer’s 1949 classic “Kind Hearts and Coronets,” starring Alec Guinness. However, “Huntington” is saud to “skew darker than the original caper classic and leans into witty and zingy banter,” according to Deadline. It’s a “raucous revenge thriller” about the heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves.

One of the few success stories of 2022 indie cinema was the streaming performance of Ford’s Sundance-premiered crime drama “Emily the Criminal,” starring Aubrey Plaza. It peaked at the top of Netflix’s trending Top 10 in early December of that year and remained high up there for weeks. The film was made on a scant budget of just $2M.

Seems like Ford may have struck out with his sophomore effort.

This might also turn out to be a second straight disappointment for Powell, who is coming off the lukewarm opening of this past weekend’s “The Running Man,” which finished in third place at the box office with a $16M debut. After “How to Make A Killing,” Powell is expected to appear in J.J. Abrams’ “Ghostwriter,” which might also be aiming for a 2026 release.
