‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Teaser Drops: Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway Return to the Fashion World

November 12, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Well, as far as unnecessary sequels go, this one doesn’t completely offend.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” has a teaser. I love that what’s shown keeps things minimal—just enough to know the essentials. Both of them are back, the chemistry is intact, no drama spelled out. The film only wrapped production a few months ago. The sequel is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.

Meryl Streep is set to reprise her role as Miranda Priestly in the follow-up to the 2006 film. Also returning? Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci. Added in for good measure is Kenneth Branagh who will be playing Miranda’s husband. The film reunites the main cast with director David Frankel (“Collateral Beauty”) and writer Aline Brosh McKenna.

The plot sees Miranda’s once-dominant editorial empire fading into irrelevance, forcing her to grovel before Emily—now a high-powered executive at a luxury fashion conglomerate—for ad dollars. Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original, is back on scripting duties.

The original ‘Prada’ was loosely based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 roman-à-clef and followed a fresh-out-of-college Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as she stumbled into the serpentine world of high fashion, landing a job as assistant to the fearsome Miranda.

Streep was Oscar-nominated for that role—one of nine nominations she’s earned since 2000, alongside nods for “Adaptation,” “Doubt,” “Julie & Julia,” “The Iron Lady,” “August: Osage County,” “Into the Woods,” “Florence Foster Jenkins,” and “The Post.”

Truth be told, a good chunk of those noms were handed out on name recognition alone. But ‘Prada’? That one was the real deal. Arguably her sharpest, most memorable performance of the 21st century.

Streep hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2021’s “Don’t Look Up,” in which she played President Orlean. Beyond films, Streep has stayed active on television, most recently reprising her role as Loretta Durkin in “Only Murders in the Building.”
