‘Crime 101’ Trailer Released — Hemsworth, Keoghan, Berry and Ruffalo Star in Heist Thriller

October 23, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

I already tackled Bart Layton’s “Crime 101” yesterday. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Monica Barbaro. A trailer has just been released for the film.

A few notes: Does Halle Berry ever age? She looks like she’s in her 30s! Either it’s the greatest plastic surgery ever bestowed upon an actress, incredible genetics, or a combination of the two.

Come to think of it, if you’ve ever wanted Thor, Hulk, Catwoman, and the Joker to face off on-screen, this film might be the closest you’ll ever get — minus the spandex.

Regardless, I’m not sure I’m entirely sold on this one just yet. It looks a bit generic, and Barry Keoghan playing another freaky deaky weirdo on-screen isn’t exactly fresh anymore. Mark Ruffalo as a cop? Been there, done that. As for Chris Hemsworth — I thought he stole the show in “Furiosa,” but his role here feels pretty vanilla.

Based off of Don Winslow’s short story of the same name, “Crime 101” is said to have “shades of [Michael Mann’s] Heat” as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.

It’s been seven years since Layton last directed a film, “American Animals,” which also starred Keoghan. His other feature directing cred is 2012’s acclaimed documentary, “The Imposter.” “Crime 101” is set to debut in theaters February 13 via Amazon/MGM Studios.
