A24 Dates Kristoffer Borgli’s ‘The Drama,’ Starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, for April 2026

October 17, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

A24 has set an April 3, 2026, release date for its Zendaya and Robert Pattinson shocker, “The Drama.”

Just to recap, Zendaya has “The Drama,” “Euphoria Season 3,” “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” “The Odyssey,” and “Dune: Messiah” all coming out in 2026. She’s also lending her voice to “Shrek 5,” which was supposed to come out next year, but is now be aiming for June 2027 release.

Borgli is coming off “Dream Scenario,” starring an amusing Nicolas Cage, and “The Drama” is already generating strong word of mouth, according to multiple sources who attended a-a screening in June.

Given the buzz, and the nearly finished cut that was recently shown, expect “The Drama” to possibly world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

“The Drama” centers on a couple, played by Pattinson and Zendaya, whose relationship takes an unexpected turn right before their wedding day. Aided by Borgli’s screenplay, Pattinson is said to be very good here. He reportedly pushes his acting skills to the edge as he portrays an ordinary British man caught up in an extraordinary situation.

What exactly is this “extraordinary situation”? I kind of regret having it spoiled by someone who saw a cut of the film earlier this year. It’ll be interesting to see whether A24 reveals the twist in the marketing — it’s a huge part of the story, but one that could easily turn off some viewers.

Regardless, for Borgli, a filmmaker filled with potential whose sophomore effort, 2022’s “Sick of Myself,” premiered at Cannes, “The Drama” marks his most high-profile film yet, with two of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood leading the cast.

Keep a close eye on this one next year.
