Here’s a hot package, one that’s set to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s sophomore effort as a director, coming more than 12 years after the release of “Don Jon.” Remember that one?
After a bidding war between multiple major studios, Netflix finally snapped up Gordon-Levitt’s untitled AI thriller for Rian Johnson’s T-Street Productions, with Rachel McAdams set to star (via Deadline). No word yet on plot details.
Gordon-Levitt co-wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald (“Snowden”), and Natasha Lyonne (“His Three Daughters”) shares a story credit. A shoot is being eyed for 2026, with more casting expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Gordon-Levitt’s 2013 feature directorial debut, “Don Jon,” grossed $40 million at the box office and earned positive reviews. He followed that with the underseen Apple TV series “Mr. Corman,” which he wrote, directed, and also starred in as a San Fernando Valley public school teacher.
