Razzies: ‘Megalopolis' Nominated for Worst Picture & Worst Director

The Razzies are a total joke of an awards show. The nominees are determined by members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation. All you have to do to join the voting body is pay a fee ranging from $40 (for two people) to $500 (lifetime membership). You don’t even need to have seen all the movies to vote.

So, unidentified voters, with unknown qualifications, have the power to take down any movie, actor or actress of their choosing. You have 1200 Razzie members (movie buffs, film critics and journalists) from 49 States and about two dozen foreign countries, who somehow have that power.

With that out of the way, The 2025 Razzie nominees were just revealed, and Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” tied for the most noms, including Worst Picture and Worst Director. I’m sure there will be some online backlash over this, and for good reason.

It’s not just “Megalopolis.” It’s also cool to hate on “Joker: Folie a Deux,” and the Razzies predictably took the bait. I’m not saying the film is great, but it isn’t the total trainwreck many have been insisting it to be.

The WORST PICTURE nominees for the 45th Razzies are “Megalopolis,” “Joker: Folie a Deux,” “Reagan,” “Madame Web,” and “Borderlands.”

Remember, this is the same group that infamously nominated Stanley Kubrick as 1980’s Worst Director for “The Shining.” Brian De Palma also got Worst Director nods for “Dressed to Kill,” “Body Double,” and “Scarface.” Oh, and let’s not forget Ennio Morricone’s WORST FILM SCORE nomination for “The Thing.”
