Laura Dern shared a touching birthday message on Instagram to her lifelong collaborator David Lynch, who would have turned 79 today.
“Happy birthday, tidbit,” Dern wrote. “I will love and miss you every day for the rest of my life.”
Gosh, where to begin. With the exception of Kyle MacLachlan, there’s been no greater acting muse in Lynch’s filmography than Laura Dern. Much like MacLachlan, she probably owes her career to Lynch.
Since casting Dern in “Blue Velvet” at the age of 17, Lynch ended up giving her roles in “Wild at Heart,” “Inland Empire” and “Twin Peaks: The Return.” By the looks of it, she was also supposed to star in Lynch’s “Unrecorded Night” for Netflix which, sadly, never ended up getting made.
