Adria Arjona is coming off her sultry work in Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man,” and she’s now joined Adam Wingard’s “Onslaught.”
Back in May, several studios were in a bidding war for “Onslaught.” A24 finally landed the rights for the action-thriller with Wingard on board to direct. The film reunites Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, they’re the team behind 2013’s “You’re Next” and 2014’s “The Guest.”
Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the film is said to be in the same vein as Wingard’s earlier indie films. Principal photography will begin in Fall 2024.
Wingard is coming off the commercial success of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” which grossed over $500M worldwide. Despite the success of that film, Wingard has confirmed that he will not be back for the sequel. Smart call. It sounds like he wants to go back to his indie action roots.
Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range.
