Warner Bros. Refusing to Release Animated Movie ‘Fixed'

August 9, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Here’s another Friday report from Puck’s Matt Belloni.

A few years ago, Warners Bros greenlit an R-rated animated comedy from filmmaker Genndy Tartakovsky (“Hotel Transylvania”) called “Fixed,” about a dog’s wild last night before being neutered.

The film is a co-production of Warners’ New Line and Sony Pictures, and was put in the can early last year, with a voice cast that included Adam Devine and Kathryn Hahn. However, Warner CEO David Zaslav has put the kibosh on the entire thing, much like he did with “Batgirl” and “Coyote vs ACME.”

Warners has decided not to release “Fixed.” Instead, it has given the movie back to Sony, which is now trying to sell it to any streamer or distributor that would bite. Without a buyer, “Fixed” could end up like “Batgirl” and never see the light of day.

It's quite clear that Warners and Zaslav don’t care about animation anymore. They gave Scooby Doo fans the middle finger by shelving “Velma”. They cancelled “Coyote vs Acme.” They refused to release “The Day the Earth Blew Up.” They've nearly removed all of the Cartoon Network from Max.

This news come just a day after it was revealed that Warners Discovery’s stock lost $10 billion in value during the second quarter, mostly due to the declining value of its television operations.
