Pedro Almodovar's ‘The Room Next Door' Coming in December + First Poster

August 7, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Pedro Almodovar’s “The Room Next Door,” starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton, has set up a December release date. A gorgeous new poster has also been released and can be seen below.

As far as we know, this one is going to NYFF and Venice, with TIFF also a possibility as a late addition. It’s going to be skipping Telluride. I’ve been hearing some love/hate reactions for this one, so it’ll be interesting to see how its Lido world premiere screening goes.

Based on Sigrid Nunez’s novel, “The Room Next Door” follows the story of “Martha, a flawed mother working as a war reporter, and Ingrid, her spiteful daughter who is an auto-fictional novelist. While the mother and daughter are separated by a serious misunderstanding, another woman is the keeper of their pain and bitterness.”

Almodóvar has had a storied filmmaking career since his 1980 debut “Pepi, Luci, Bom.” His most notable works include “Talk to Her,” “The Skin I Live In,” “Pain and Glory,” “Broken Embraces,” and “Women on the Verge of A Nervous Breakdown.”
