Trailer for Disney's ‘Snow White' Hits 1 Million Dislikes on YouTube

August 30, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

According to The SFF Gazette, the trailer for Disney’s live action “Snow White” has already received more than 1 million dislikes on YouTube. To make matters worse, only 80,000 users actually “liked” the trailer. That’s quite the ratio.

This merely adds more fuel to the fire for this movie, which has earned the wrath of online fanboys. One look through the 50,000+ comments for the trailer and you notice the cesspool of hatred being directed towards this movie. Fans seem to be fed up with all of these remakes of beloved animated classics. However, Disney’s casting of Rachel Zegler in the titular role seems to be another major factor is the total dismissal of the trailer.

In 2023, Zegler received pushback for comments in which she called the animated classic “weird” and described Prince Charming as a “stalker.” Last year, she also referred to her upcoming remake as the “PC Snow White.”

Earlier in the month, a leaked scene from “Snow White” made the rounds, and it played like nightmare fuel. It didn’t at all look “live action,” there was tons of CGI, and it was justifiably mocked online. It didn’t help that one of the dwarves, Dopey, looked like Mad Magazine’s Alfred E. Neuman.

According to Forbes, Disney spent $209M to produce the upcoming live action “Snow White.” A few months later, The Daily Mail (not the most reliable source, mind you) reported the actual figure to be $330 million.

“Snow White” was written by none other than Greta Gerwig and was directed by Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”). It stars Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Dujonna Gift and Martin Klebba. Principal photography on “Snow White” began on March 7, 2022, and wrapped in June 2022. So, next year’s release will have been almost three years after production wrapped up in London.

However, reshoots were indeed conducted on the film, in June 2023. The goal was to insert flashbacks into “Snow White,” featuring actress Emilia Faucher as a younger version of Snow White. Another round of reshoots occurred earlier this summer in London. This was confirmed by Gadot who stars in the film as the Evil Queen.
