Gareth Evans' ‘Havoc,' Shot in 2021, to Undergo Reshoots — January 2025 Release Eyed

July 8, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Gareth Evans has confirmed the reshoots, via Instagram, and claims that there have been no other reshoots on the film.

And we’re back! Contrary to rumors over the last 2 and a half years — today actually marks the first day of additional photography to finally complete HAVOC. It’s been a long old road filled with scheduling issues, strikes and more scheduling issues while we’ve worked to get the band back together. But here we are and away we go. Massive thanks to crew and cast, old and new. Massive thanks also to @netflix for their unwavering commitment and support to this project. Onwards.

EARLIER: Back in February, when Netflix announced its 2024 slate, Gareth Evans’ “Havoc” yet again did not show up. There’s been a lot of speculation about the reasons for the delays, with reshoots having possibly occurred in 2022 or early 2023.

It turns out that more reshoots are in order for this troubled production.

On the 7/5/24 episode of Double Toasted, “Havoc” actor Justin Cornwell mentions that the film is set to release in “January 2025.” Cornwell also mentions that he’s headed back to Wales this week to do more reshoots on the film.

“Havoc,” which wrapped production in October 2021, stars Tom Hardy, Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, and Timothy Olyphant. Evans is the filmmaker behind both ‘Raid’ films, 2018’s “Apostle” and the 2020 series “Gangs of London.” He’s well-known for his visceral and blood-soaked style of filmmaking.

There’s also been barely any details about the plot of “Havoc,” just a synopsis that was released before production began in July 2021.

After a drug deal goes awry, a detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician's estranged son, while untangling his city's dark web of conspiracy and corruption.

In November 2022, Evans took to Instagram to confirm that he was “still plugging away at it, doing all we can to make the film the best it can be,” but that in order to produce the film to their standards, it would have to involve “a small amount of additional photography that we are hoping to shoot soon”.

Some speculated that Evans, known for taking his meticulous time in the editing room, was part of numerous extensive reshoots on the film, and it does look as though another round of them has been called for this week.
