I’ve already seen Osgood Perkins’ much-anticipated “Longlegs” but was told not to publish my review until next Wednesday. It is unusual to be told that, but I’ll respect it. You must be wondering, why are they doing this? I’m not entirely sure, there are already 16 critics reviews logged into Rotten Tomatoes, where the film still has a 100% rating, but almost all of them are from genre publications. There’s no Variety, THR, IndieWire, Deadline, The Guardian etc. All of them, I’m presuming, are also holding off until Wednesday.
Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range.
