This is the first I hear of this film, and it’s set to be released three weeks from now. It does look as though Lionsgate is dumping “Greedy People” during the dog days of August. It’s not IP and it’s sourced from an originally written story. Makes sense. Who wants to see that, right?
“Greedy People” is directed by Potsy Ponciroli who gave us 2021’s underrated “Old Henry” and “Ted K.” It actually looks like it could turn out to be a more than decent film.
As seen in the just released trailer, “Greedy People” follows the story of a rookie cop who accidentally kills a woman. At the scene, he and his new partner discover a stash filled with a million dollars. They cover up the killing and take the money. What could possibly go wrong?
All of the actors involved here have my firm seal of approval. “Greedy People” stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Himesh Patel, Lily James, Tim Blake Nelson, and Simon Rex. Again, I’m completely sold on this film — any semblance of originality will be met with open arms. It arrives in theaters on August 23.
