We’re practically halfway done in the year, and that means I’ll be polling hundreds of critics for my annual mid-year critics’ poll. Ballots will be sent out today.
I’ve been conducting this poll since 2016, it actually started somewhere else and only this decade migrated to World of Reel. I believe this is the only site that does a mid-year critics poll — IndieWire used to conduct these, but stopped doing them in 2015.
This year, I’ve decided to also poll our readers. Same rules apply as with critics. Readers asked to submit their personal list, in the comments section. All I need is your top five films of the year, they could be ranked or unranked. If a film premiered at a festival but hasn’t been theatrically released yet then it’s not eligible. If, at the last minute, you want to edit your list then you can do so until June 25.
