Anya Taylor-Joy Had A Miserable Time Shooting ‘Furiosa'

May 13, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

We already know about the legendary behind the scenes chaos on George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road.” It’s been well-researched and reported on for almost 10 years. There have been so many interviews about how Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy hated each other. Stories about how difficult it can be to work with “perfectionist” Miller.

It looks like the chaos continued on in “Furiosa.” Judging by a new interview with Anya Taylor-Joy, the star of Miller’s latest opus, production seemed to be a very difficult experience for her.

Speaking to the New York Times, Taylor-Joy echoed Theron’s older comments about in regard to working on one of these films and the challenging experience, both physical and emotional, that comes with them. It seems to be a typical day’s work on the set of a George Miller movie. Here’s Taylor-Joy …

I’ve never been more alone than making that movie […] I don’t want to go too deep into it, but everything that I thought was going to be easy was hard.

When pressed by the interviewer to dive deeper into what was so “hard”, and what made her feel so “alone,” the actress replied, “Next question, sorry. Talk to me in 20 years. Talk to me in 20 years.”

I’m sure we’ll know more about what Taylor-Joy is hinting at down the road, but it does sound like she went through hell and back in making this film. Regardless, the end result seems to be pleasing a lot of the people who got a sneek peak at the film last week. It might not be ‘Fury Road,’ but word is that '“Furiosa” does deliver the goods.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” hits theaters on May 24.
