Chris Hemsworth Admits ‘Thor: Love and Thunder' Stunk

April 30, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Marvel’s post ”Avengers: Endgame” output hasn’t been very good. In fact, some of the films have just been outright BAD.

One of the major nadirs was Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” — a flat, unfocused and messy sequel. There were a few fun cameos, including a hilarious Matt Damon, and Russell Crowe playing a fat Zeus, but the CGI overload and weak storyline made this easily one of the worst MCU entries.

The main issue I had with ‘Love and Thunder’ was the inconsistent tonal delivery by Waititi. Unlike “Thor: Ragnarok,” Waititi didn’t fully embrace the silliness and took the overcooked drama way too seriously. It doesn’t help that Christian Bale, who played the villain, wasted his talents in this piece of crap.

Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, agrees with this sentiment. In a new interview, the actor expressed regrets about the film. While he doesn’t necessarily blame Waititi, he does acknowledge that he gave an underwhelming performance, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” he said. “I didn’t stick the landing.”

Hemsworth believes he owes the audience another ‘Thor.’ While no official word of a “Thor 5” has been revealed, Hemsworth is said to have a cameo in the upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine.” There have been rumors of a new standalone ‘Thor’ coming soon, but nothing’s really been confirmed.

I read Hemsworth’s wish for another ‘Thor’ as a threat. Please, for the love of God, refrain from giving us another one of these movies.

The dirty truth is that there’s been Marvel fatigue going on ever since 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” I haven’t seen a single strong movie coming out of the Marvel canon these last five years. Marvel head Kevin Feige is trying to steer this ship back in the right direction, but I hope that doesn’t happen. We need to move on from the era of MCU domination.
