That Screen Daily report from yesterday implying that Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” might “not be ready” for Cannes … I’m about to pour some cold water on it.
Here’s something that was sent by a filmmaker invited to a private screening of Coppola’s upcoming epic, taking place next week. No mention of it being a “work in progress.” The film’s been in post production since March 2023, it’s time to unveil it.
There’s a lot riding on this film, and I hope Coppola has hit it out of the ballpark. Intel suggests that a fall 2024 release, in IMAX, is being eyed for the film. This latest development of a private screening surely leads us to believe it might now be headed to Cannes where it will hopefully be vying for the Palme d’Or.
As expected, Snyder's latest is being torn apart by TIFF attendees. No mercy given. The film, which had its world premiere this evening, is being called by some one of the worst movies to ever premiere at the festival.
