The abominable “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” grossed $4.7 million in Thursday previews. This film is so bad, I still can’t grasp how the end result turned out this disastrously. Is it because Jason Reitman isn’t directing it?
Deadline is reporting that ‘Frozen Empire’ will require a lot of walk-up business to get to its targeted $44 million opening as presales from some exhibitors have been low. Overseas, the number are actually worse. ‘Ghostbusters’ was never as big a franchise internationally as it was domestically.
The budget for ‘Frozen Empire’ is said to be around $100 million. I don’t think we’ll be getting another ‘Ghostbusters’ movie after this one. Good riddance. I was never that big of a fan of the franchise — the 1984 original is passably watchable, but mostly because of Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray.
