Edward Zwick’s ‘Death of Kings’ to Star Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley

February 14, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Filmmaker Edward Zwick is everywhere these days. He’s been out there promoting his no-holds-barred memoir, which is worth a read. It’s such an honest depiction of Hollywood that I for sure thought that, to be telling all of these candid stories, Zwick must now be retired.

However, it turns out that the 71-year-old filmmaker is not retired. Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman is reporting that Zwick has signed up to direct the medieval-set “Death of Kings.” The project is said to have “Game of Thrones” shades.

“Death of Kings” will have Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley head up a big all-star cast in a movie based on Bernard Cornwell’s best selling historical fiction. Look for the trades to hop on this story very soon.

Zwick’s book, “Hits, Flops, and Other Things” is a behind the scenes look at some of the director’s most famous films, including “Blood Diamond,” “The Last Samurai,” “Glory,” “Courage Under Fire,” and “Legends of the Fall.” He’s been around for five decades now, in television and movies, and he’ll be continuing on.
