Box-Office: ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Makes $46,000 in Strip Club Screenings

February 11, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

I’m not entirely sure what Harmony Korine’s plans are as far as distributing his indescribable “Aggro Dr1ft.” Will it even ever get distribution? Does it need distribution?

The film is currently on an “experimental tour”, its first stop were strip club screenings, including Crazy Girls on Feb. 7, with an additional date the next day. It’s a peculiar way to screen the film, but, then again, Korine has never really adhered to mainstream thinking.

All of this to say that “Aggro Dr1ft” earned $46,000 in three venues this past week. It’ll next be screening in Mexico City under the same formula, which again includes strip clubs. It’s certainly a new way to get buzz across, and I kinda like it.

So, with that in mind, the first trailer for “Aggro Dr1ft,” a film about gangsters, strippers, prostitutes, assassins, and horned demons, all shot in infrared, was released last month. Some moments in this film do actually leave you in a trance, while others bewilder. More thoughts here.
