I highly recommend watching Robert Eggers’ Konbini visit to the JM video store in Paris. A small little nugget can be found at the 17-minute mark; Eggers reveals that last week he offered Willem Dafoe roles in his next two movies.
What those two movies might be remains a mystery. Eggers recently confirmed that he has “five things” going that could potentially turn in his next one. We publicly know of four things that Eggers is currently working on: “Labyrinth,” “The Knight,” an untitled Western and his Rasputin miniseries.
Dafoe has acted in Eggers’ last three films: “The Lighthouse,” “The Northman,” and “Nosferatu.” During the Konbini chat, Eggers mentions how it was Dafoe who first reached out to him in 2015, after having seen “The Witch.” A few days later, they had dinner together, and the rest as they say is history.
Following “Air,” this is Affleck’s latest stint behind the camera. He has cast himself in the lead role, alongside Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, and Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files”).
