Lionsgate is Considering A Sale, But No Buyer Has Emerged Yet

December 28, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

How many bombs is too many bombs? That’s the question currently being asked over at Lionsgate, a studio that’s coming off a 2024 filled with epic flopbusters like “The Crow,” “Borderlands,” “Megalopolis,” “Never Let Go,” and “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”

A report from Bloomberg is saying that Lionsgate’s now considering a potential sale. An activist investor has taken a stake in the company and wants a sale to be considered. Although no buyer has yet to emerge, the report further hints that the studio’s head honchos are open to the idea

This isn’t surprising, and it has been public knowledge that the end game over at Lionsgate is indeed for them to be sold. They recently split their company in two in an attempt to bolster their market cap, and that would be for the sole purpose of a sale. Whether anyone is interest in acquiring them is a whole other story.

Lionsgate has a 2025 that will be dominated by their upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, set for October release. They also have “Flight Risk,” “Den of Thieves 2,” “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” “Ballerina,” “Saw XI,” “Now You See Me 3,” and “The Housemaid” all coming out next year.
